There's a cottage industry out there of roulette experts who claim they
have systems for finding "roulette hot numbers". That means these guys say
they can predict a roulette number that's going to come up within a fixed
set of spins.
If you could do that, you could make a living playing roulette. Of course, if you could do that, you think you would stay in the casinos all day winning and winning at roulette, instead of wasting time writing e-books for $19.95. Perhaps the roulette guru only start publishing his secrets when all the casinos no longer lets him through the doors.
Or maybe people who claim to find repeating numbers in roulette don't know what they're talking about, and simply write electronic books to get money from gamblers who don't know any better. They wouldn't be the first person to sell hope.
Roulette Repeating Numbers
Google "roulette hot numbers" and you'll find a whole list of people with
the secrets to winning at roulette. One of the top entries is a guy who
claims "We will be betting on repeating numbers before they start
repeating". He doesn't claim to be able to predict winning numbers down to
the spin, but down to a group of spins. He points out he's not psychic.
The writer compares random number generators and real-world roulette wheels to a bag full of 38 tokens with the numbers 1 through 36, plus the 0 and 00. He uses the logic that, if a person chose a random number out of that bag 38 times, it would be astronomically unlikely that he would pull out each number 1 time each.
That means some numbers are repeating more than statistics would say they should. So if you could predict which number is going to repeat, you would be able to make a lot of money betting on the outcome of your random number selection.
Numbers in the Bag
Of course, that assumes you this theoretical bag works along the same principles as a electronic number generator. Unless you shake them up really well, some numbers are going to settle on the bottom of the bag, and you'll know where you put certain numbers in the bag. I suppose that game could be manipulated fairly easily, if you were of a mind to do so. But with an RNG, though, there are no numbers sitting on the bottom.
With the nature of the random number generator, each spin of the wheel is separate from all others. That's the definition of random. The last number that came up truly has nothing to do with the next number to come up. Any hot number pattern is purely in your own mind.
Mechanical Roulette Machines
A mechanical roulette wheel found in a live casino might be a different story. Maybe the wheel is unbalanced or has "deep slots" where the ball is likelier to get stuck, and therefore be more predictable. Believe me, though, the casino you play at has already thought about this--a lot.
These days, roulette machines go through rigorous and frequent testing to determine if they are balanced or not. While you might have found faulty machines and played them for a good while 100 years ago, problems with a roulette wheel are going to be found and fixed quickly these days. The casino tracks the spins and knows what is hitting at high frequency, so any radical variances are going to be checked out sooner rather than later.

The fact is, roulette is one of the most unbeatable games in the casino. American roulette has a house edge well over 5%, so you're going to spend a lot of money trying to figure out where the roulette hot numbers are. The idea that there's a system that helps you find repeating numbers on a roulette wheel is wild. This guy assures you'll make $101 an hour betting his way, which is simply preposterous. The only way he's making that kind of money off of roulette is if 5 people buy his roulette e-book in one hour--or he gets lucky at the roulette wheel, like everyone else.
Don't waste your time trying to find roulette's hot numbers. That's a gambling myth which is only going to make you waste more money (and all your entertainment value) by trying to turn casino roulette into a business venture. Roulette is a hobby, a pastime, and an entertainment option, but it will never be a good business proposition for a gambler. The only way you would make money consistently on roulette is if you ran a licensed game yourself, and had the kind of odds a casino has on the roulette wheel.
